BENJ. WILLIAMS DIED.

Aged 91 years, Thursday morn at an early hour at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John WATSON, a mile and a half west of Glasgow.... has been a resident of Jefferson County for over half a century and was probably one of the oldest, if not the very oldest man in the county....

Benjamin Talbert WILLIAMS was born in White County, near Carmi, Ill., Feb. 2, 1822, died Mar. 13, 1913. Scotch-Irish (sic - Scots-Irish) parentage. When about 24 years of age came with his parents to Jefferson County, settling on a farm within two miles of the present home of his daughter Mrs. John WATSON, where he passed away.... After coming to Iowa, taught some 17 terms of school... Twice married, first to Matilda CHILCOAT, one son, Marshall WILLIAMS now of Republic County, Kansas, came of this union. His second marriage was to Susan E. SEARS. This union was blessed with six children. One died in infancy, and five still live. They are: Sarah E. JUDY of Kearney, Neb., Lizzie WATSON of Glasgow, Iowa, Theron WILLIAMS of Jackson, Minn., Daniel WILLIAMS of Foss, Okla., and Eugene WILLIAMS of Stockport, Iowa.

Note: Buried in Fiedler Cemetery with both wives; Matilda died in 1854 and Susan in 1896.
