Dorothy Vera McELDERRY, 64, of rural Libertyville, died Sunday evening, April 24, 2011, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Dorothy Vera McELDERRY

Dorothy Vera McELDERRY, 64, of rural Libertyville, died Sunday evening, April 24, 2011, at home.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Interment will be at a later date.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to Jefferson County 4-H and Youth Hunter Education Challenge. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to 2451 Dewberry Ave., Libertyville 52567.

Mrs. McELDERRY was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Fairfield, the daughter of Virgil Leroy and Dorothy WOODS HICKENBOTTOM. She married Aaron McELDERRY Jan. 5, 1968, at People's Church, north of Batavia.

Mrs. McELDERRY lived her entire life in the Batavia, Libertyville and Fairfield communities. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1965. She was a homemaker and volunteer.

Mrs. McELDERRY was a member of Brethren Church. She served on the board of the Iowa Hunter Education Association for more than 20 years. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She also was secretary and a member of the Iowa Black Powder Federation and a member of the Southeast Iowa Sportsman's Society.

Survivors include her husband; four children: David McELDERRY and wife Julie of Libertyville, Terrie HEMM and husband Joe of Batavia, Mike McELDERRY of Fairfield and Tricia MATSON and husband Garrett of Oskaloosa; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
