William D. KLINGAMAN

William D. KLINGAMAN, 81, of South Beloit, IL and Lac du Flambeau, WI passed away on April 16, 2011 in Rancho Mirage, CA, of a recent illness.

Bill was the son of William LeRoy KLINGAMAN and Velda Lucille JOHNSON KLINGAMAN. Born March 5, 1930 in Des Moines, IA, Bill left Packwood for Chicago as a teen, where he graduated from Austen HS, served in the Illinois Air National Guard at home and in France, and married Gloria Nell ARNOLD of Chicago in 1951. They raised four children in Mount Prospect, IL. Bill's passions were flying and RVing. He soloed at 16 and was still flying glider passengers on tours of California's San Jacinto Mountains in the 21st Century. Bill retired in 1988 after 35 years at Commonwealth Edison. Bill and Gloria wintered in Palm Springs, after visiting the four corners of the U.S. and Alaska in their RV. Bill and Gloria celebrated their 60th anniversary less than one month before Bill passed.

Survivors include Gloria, his children Steve (Barri), Barb IVERSEN, Russ (Mary) and Doug; his grandchildren Dustin SOTO, Lenne, Dane, Nate RUSKA, Karli, Taylor, Lean and Jenelle; his great-grandchild Ocean SOTO; his half-brother Mel MAEDER (Judy) of Richland.

Donations may be made to the American Red Cross or charity of one's choice. Red Cross donations may be made to the Rock River Chapter, 727 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103, or any local chapter. The family will hold a private memorial service at Bill's lake home in Lac du Flambeau.
