DR. CHARLES BLACK PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY IN DENVER

Friends of Dr. Samuel Charles BLACK, president of Washington and Jefferson university, Washington, Pa., were shocked and grieved to learn of his death which occurred in Denver, Colo., yesterday. The following telegram was received by Mrs. C.D. LEGGETT this morning:

Denver, Colo.
July 25, 1921

Mrs. Chas. D. LEGGETT.

Charley passed away at 7:30 this morning. Simple services here Tuesday noon. Funeral and interment at Clarinda Thursday morning.

Dr. and Mrs. BLACK were married at the Presbyterian church here, June 29th and were on their honeymoon trip to the National parks.

Note: Dr. Samuel Charles BLACK was born Sept 6, 1869 in Monticello, Iowa and died in or near Denver, Colorado on July 25, 1921. He married Mary Leal HARKNESS BLACK on June 29, 1921 in Fairfield, Iowa. While Dr. BLACK was buried in the Clarinda cemetery, Clarinda, Page county, Iowa his wife Mary lived on until her death in 1934 and she is buried in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa (2nd.215) in the HARKNESS family plot (which contains her parents).
