Joan MUIR

Joan MUIR, 79, of Keosauqua, died at 12:34 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at St. Luke's Continuing Care Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church or Fellows Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 710 Division St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. MUIR was born July 16, 1931, in Keokuk, the daughter of Colin and Vera BOLEY MITCHELL. She married Robert MUIR Jan. 24, 1953, at Keosauqua United Methodist Church.

Mrs. MUIR graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1949. The MUIRs lived for many years in Des Moines, where Mrs. MUIR was employed by the Des Moines Public School System and American Telephone & Telegraph Co. The couple retired to Keosauqua in 1987.

Mrs. MUIR was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She had been a member of PEO Chapter I.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Peggy RAGAINI and husband David of Brookfield, Conn.; one son, Stephen MUIR of St. Joseph, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Colleen CLARK.
