Richard A. CARLSON

Richard A. CARLSON, 75, of Mount Zion, died at 7:31 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Forbes Cemetery near Mount Zion.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Gifts to a memorial to be determined by the family may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the famly at 17929 Maple Ave., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. CARLSON was born June 29, 1935, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Oliver and Irene BATES CARLSON. He married Elizabeth BUXTON. They divorced. He married Melvonna REYNOLDS July 28, 1972. She died Nov. 19, 1994. He married Ann INGWERSON May 23, 1998, in Mount Zion.

Mr. CARLSON grew up in St. Louis and moved to Keosauqua as a youth. He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1953. He lived in the Quad Cities and moved to Mount Zion in 1981. Mr. CARLSON worked as a journeyman tool maker at Riverside Plastics in Bonaparte, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Journeyman Tool Makers Association and Isaac Walton League.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Linda FISHER of Davenport, Peggy ZEGHOUANI of Silvia, Ontario, Robert CARLSON of Davenport, Gary CARLSON of Farmington, Ronald CARLSON of Mount Zion, Dena RARICK of Ainsworth and Bill CARLSON of Mount Zion; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim CARLSON and Oliver CARLSON Jr.; and one granddaughter.
