Barbara J. BROWN, 79, formerly of Batavia, died today, Friday, April 22, 2011, at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Barbara J. BROWN, 79, formerly of Batavia, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Interment will be in Eldon Cemetery in Eldon.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties.

Ms. BROWN was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Ottumwa, the daughter of George W. and Mary M. KNECHT BROWN.

Ms. BROWN attended Cross Lane country school and graduated from Fairfield High School. She lived in Batavia most of her life and farmed with her father and two brothers.

Ms. BROWN was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include her twin sister, Betty FENN of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gerald BROWN and George W. "Bill" BROWN.
