CHARLES C. CUMMINGS DIED LAST EVENING

Charles C. CUMMINGS, a well known Jefferson county farmer, passed away at his home three miles southeast of Fairfield, last evening, about six o'clock. He had been in poor health for several years and was taken suddenly worse Saturday morning.

Charles C. CUMMINGS was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. CUMMINGS and was born October 23, 1873 (sic - 1872), on the farm on which he died. On November 23rd, 1911, he was united in marriage to Miss Ethel JULIAN, of this city, who with the aged father and one brother, Wm. F. CUMMINGS, and one sister, Miss Fannie CUMMINGS, all survive him.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at two thirty, from the home, in charge of Rev. H. A. Mosser.

He was long a member and an officer in the old Company M. of the National Guard. He served during the Spanish American war although the Fairfield company never went further than Jacksonville, Fla.

CUMMINGS.

Charles C. CUMMINGS died unexpectedly at his home three miles southeast of Fairfield Sunday, September 22, at the age of forty-six.

Mr. CUMMINGS was one of the best known and most popular of the men of his age in the county and his death causes universal expression of sorrow. He was born in this county in 1872 and had always made his home here. For fifteen years he was a greatly beloved member of the local national guard company and served through the Spanish-American war with it. He was an esteemed member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow fraternities.

Mr. CUMMINGS is survived by his widow, a sister Miss Fannie, a brother, W .F. CUMMINGS, an dhis (sic) father, S. A. CUMMINGS. Funeral services were held Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Mosser of the Presbyterian church.

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Charles C. CUMMINGS, deceased, is now on file, in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson County, and that September 28th, A. D., 1918, at 2:00 o'clock p.m., it being the 18th day of the September Term, 1918, of said Court, has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 26th day of September, 1918.

RKT note: Son of Samuel CUMMINGS and Maria J. CASE CUMMINGS. Buried at Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa. Old.P.384. His wife, Ethel, is buried in 3rd.060 with what appear to be at least one and possibly two siblings or relatives of her maiden family of JULIAN.
