Dr. J. N. IRWIN, Dentist, Dies

BRIGHTON - Dr. J.N. IRWIN, long time resident of Brighton and dentist there for the past 48 years, died this morning at the Washington county hospital. He suffered a heart ailment Friday and was taken to the hospital last evening.

J.N. (sic. James N.) IRWIN was born Sept. 9, 1877 in South Salem, Ohio, the son of James and Ella M. CUMMINGS IRWIN (sic. married names are flipped, should be in order of marriage which would be IRWIN CUMMINGS), and spent his youth in Mediapolis. He took nurses training at the Bellevue hospital in New York and later entered the University of Iowa where he completed the course in dentistry, graduating in 1904. He started practice in Brighton and has been there since that time.

He was married to Ocean DOSH, Sept. 9, 1908 at her home in Brighton. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Mary CONNOR, Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Helen KOHL, Ashoy, Mass.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Madge McGLADE of Ames and Mrs. Emma EASTON of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by two brothers, P. C. IRWIN of Seattle, Wash., and R. M. IRWIN of Bradenton, Fla.

The body is at the Omar Hoskins funeral home in Brighton where services are pending arrival of the daughters.

Dr. and Mrs. IRWIN returned last Monday from Florida where they had been called by the serious illness and death of his brother, R. M. IRWIN, former resident and practicing dentist of Richland.

Rites For Dr. IRWIN To Be Held Wednesday

BIGHTON (sic. BRIGHTON), Ia. - Funeral services for Dr. J. N. IRWIN, veteran Brighton dentist, will be held here Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church.

Dr. IRWIN, who had practiced dentistry in Brighton for 48 years, died yesterday at the Washington county hospital after suffering a heart ailment last Friday.

Last rites will be in charge of the Rev. Robert Stabenow. Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery at Brighton. Dr. IRWIN was a member of the Methodist church and the Masonic lodge.
