Maggie WILLIAMS dies at 102

Maggie May WILLIAMS, possibly Jefferson County's oldest resident, died at 3:50 a.m. today at the age of 102. She died at the Parkview Care Center where she had been a patient since 1975.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. D. O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. WILLIAMS celebrated her 100th birthday at the Care Center March 18, 1980. Members of her family and residents at the center stopped to visit with Mrs. WILLIAMS and enjoy a piece of her birthday cake.

Until she moved to the Care Center Mrs. WILLIAMS lived in her own home on Route 2, raised her own garden and did her own housekeeping with the aid of her daughters.

Maggie WILLIAMS was born March 18, 1890, in Brighton. She was the daughter of Charles and Alice BARNETT DARNELL. She married Goerge (sic. George) W. WILLIAMS Jan. 1, 1899, in Brighton.

The couple moved to Fairfield in 1906. While living in Fairfield her husband was a factory employee and later worked as a brick mason. The moved to the country in the early 1940's. He died April 27, 1947. Mrs. WILLIAMS was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Hazel HOAGE and Aletha WILSON; three sons, Paul, Kenneth and Edwin, all of Fairfield. Other survivors are 33 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren and 60 great-great grandchidren.

She was preceded in death by six children.
