JoAnn WILEY

JoAnn WILEY, 85, of Fairfield, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, under Good Samaritan Hospice care at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Leando Cemetery or Parkview Care Center may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family a (sic - at) 1701 Linden Drive, Unit C, Fairfield 52556.

Ms. WILEY was born July 22, 1925, in Davenport, the daughter of Cullen S. and Mary JOHNSON HUMPHREY. Her mother died giving birth, and she was adopted by her uncle and aunt Clarence and Ruth HUMPHREY WILEY Aug. 17, 1925.

Ms. WILEY grew up in Douds and attended Douds-Leando School. She did home health care and housework for several families in the Douds area. She also assisted her sister with her two children and took care of her father until his death in 1983. She then moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua and later to Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, where she lived 14 years.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Catherine VEHSLAGE KANN and Rachel KEMP, both of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five birth sisters and five birth brothers.
