Special contributor note: The maiden name for Elizabeth has been found in various versions in genealogy sources, her obituary, and last, but not certainly not least, the joint headstone of her parents. Jefferson county genealogy sources have used "Hanshahn", while her obituary used "Haushahan". Searches on Ancestry website family trees and revealed similar variations as the name lends itself to variations (several trees have Elizabeth's death date as 1932 instead of 1962, it should be noted).

On the Find A Grave website can be found memorials for her parents, Leonard (# 43650187) and Katharina (a/k/a Katherine in the American spelling, # 43650214) buried at Saint Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Washburn, Woodford county, Illinois. Their family surname is clearly visible and engraved as "HAUSHAHN". Their headstone photo is provided on their memorials on that website and the headstone provides their birth and death dates engraved. At least two of their children are evidently buried in that same cemetery and have memorials as well.

This obituary entry is being made using the "HAUSHAHN" maiden name for that reason.

Saturday Rites For Mrs. ADAMI, Oldest Citizen

Last rites will be held Saturday, May 26, for Mrs. Elizabeth ADAMI, 98, Jefferson county's oldest resident.

She passed away Thursday morning at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don HUMPHREYS, who resided seven miles southeast of Fairfield in Cedar township.

Mrs. ADAMI was born June 23, 1863, at Buffalo, New York, while Abraham LINCOLN was still living and the Civil war had only been in progress for two years. She moved to Washburn, Ill., with her parents when she was seven years old.

The family came to Jefferson county in 1896 and Mrs. ADAMI spent the last 66 years on the same farm where she passed away. At the time she celebrated her 98th birthday, Mrs. ADAMI said she could see nothing unusual at reaching that age. Her mother lived to be 95 and had lived on the same farm.

Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. Harold Kruger in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth ADAMI was the daughter of Leonard and Katherine HUTZLER HAUSHAHAN (sic. HAUSHAHN). On April 24, 1883, she was married to August ADAMI at Metamora, Ill. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1924.

Mrs. ADAMI was a member of the Lutheran church at Washburn, Ill.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. HUMPHREYS (sic. Minnie was her first name); 3 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; also one brother, George HAUSHAHAN (sic. HAUSHAHN), Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, two sisters and four brothers.
