C.N. McINTIRE Rites Thursday

McINTIRE was born Nov. 16, 1901 in Fairfield, the son of David E. and Anna DESPAIN MCINTIRE.
He was married May 17, 1946 to Helen K. GILLASPIE.

McINTIRE was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his widow and the following sister and brothers: Mrs. Edna BARNES and Ray McINTIRE, both of Fairfield. James McINTIRE and Harley McINTIRE, both of Mountain Home, Ark.; Leonard McINTIRE, Muscatine; and Bennie McINTIRE, Moline, Ill.

* Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Clifford is buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.142. He was previously married and widowed by Azlee Clara Douglas McINTIRE, who died in 1946. She is confirmed by the Evergreen Cemetery grounds superintendant as being also buried in the same plot as Clifford, although an entry has been found that listed her burial in a plot at the nearby Memorial Lawn Cemetery. It isn't known why the lot at Memorial Lawn Cemetery was purchased, but there is no headstone for her in that plot or other evidence of any physical burial other than that at Evergreen Cemetery.

The headstone in place in 2nd.142 is actually for triple inscriptions, but only inscriptions for Clifford and Azlee are engraved. What happened to his second wife, Helen K GILLASPIE McINTIRE, isn't disclosed in cemetery records as a burial and the space presumably intended for her on the triple headstone is blank.
