G. G. CHANDLER SERVICES HELD
Fairfield Man Buried In Evergreen Cemetery Yesterday

Funeral services for the late G. G. CHANDLER were held Wednesday afternoon from the First Methodist church, which was filled with friends and relatives. Following organ numbers rendered by Mrs. E. G. Linder Dr. U. S. Smith pastor of the church read scripture selections. Mrs. Linder played "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Lead Kindly Light."

Dr. Smith used as the text for his remarks, a statement repeated in the 24th and the 25th chapter of Matthew: "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." After noting the uncertainties of life he commented upon Mr. CHANDLER's modest unassuming virtues. "What matters length of days," said Dr. Smith, "what are achievements, when compared with simple faith and everyday sincerity?"

The pallbearers were John H. Cochran, Theron Cochran, George Snyder, Frank Terrell, L. W. Van Nostrand and Hardin Farmer. Mrs. Frank Terrill, Miss Olive Tracy and Miss Olive Leech assisted with the many flowers.

Mr. CHANDLER's only sister, Mrs. Harlan GREEN, of Windom, Minn., arrived in Fairfield shortly after noon yesterday for the services.

Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: This contributor looked for but either didn't find or overlooked a "traditional" obituary item in the days prior and following the publication of this funeral service item. Mr. CHANDLER was married at the time to Anna Mae KANN CHANDLER (she died in 1961). That her name was omitted from this item was either an oversight, intentional, or had been mentioned in an obituary not found by this contributor. Both are buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa in Old.P.159. They had two children, one son and one daughter.
