WILLA JANE CHANDLER
Willa Jane COCHRAN CHANDLER, daughter of George and Elizabeth COCHRAN was born at Glasgow in Jefferson county, June 29, 1855.
In her early life the family moved from Glasgow to the farm northeast of Fairfield and here she was married to Warren E. CHANDLER and they made their home on an adjoining farm.
She became the mother of one son George G. CHANDLER and was also mother to a step-daughter Nettie, now Mrs. Harlan GREEN of Windom, Minn., and who was present for the service.
The husband and father passed away in December 1907 (sic - December, 1906) and the only son June 26, 1933.
Soon after the husband's death Mrs. CHANDLER moved to this city and was in her home on Kirkwood St. until about five years ago when a broken limb made it impossible for her to be cared for in her own home so during recent years she has made her home with her daughter-in-law Mrs. G. G. CHANDLER.
Sister CHANDLER joined the Methodist church when a girl and the church was the center of her interest in life. Whenever it was possible she made her way to the sanctuary and many times would insist on attending when her friends feared for her welfare.
For the last two months she has been a patient in our local hospital where she passed away at the advanced age of 84 years, 10 months and 23 days.
Besides the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Anna CHANDLER with whom she made her home she leaves the step daughter Mrs. Harlan GREEN of Windom, Minn., a grand-daughter Mrs. David ALDRICH of Gwinn, Mich. one great-granddaughter Anne ALDRICH and four grandsons, children of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan GREEN. Also one brother U. S. COCHRAN of this city besides numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 24 at Hoskins funeral home in charge of Dr. M. A. Gable. Interment was in the family lot, Evergreen cemetery.
