Pg. 3 Col. 4Lewis CHANDLER, an old resident of this county, died at his home, about three miles northeast of this city, yesterday morning. Mr. CHANDLER had been suffering from some disease of the heart for several years, but did not consider himself seriously ill until a few weeks ago. He was a hard working man, and had accumulated a good share of this world's goods. His age was sixty-five years. The funeral will take place to-morrow at 11 o'clock from the house, and the remains interred in the Fairfield cemetery.

RKT's Note: Lewis CHANDLER was buried at Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa. Old.P.252. His inscription has been read as giving his death date of January 26, 1881. It should be noted that this obituary was published on January 26, 1881 and refers to the death taking place "yesterday morning", which would imply January 25, 1881. CHANDLER family researchers and descendants should be aware of this discrepancy.
Lewis CHANDLER had two siblings, Philander and Ward, who are also buried at Evergreen cemetery in nearby plots with their respective family members. All three were pioneer residents of Fairfield/Jefferson County.
