Death of Warren E. CHANDLER

Warren E. CHANDLER, the well known Buchanan township farmer, died at his home three miles northeast of the city Friday, on the farm on which he was born. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Thos. Osborn, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of this city, of which Mr. CHANDLER had been a member since 1889. Deceased was a son of Philander and Martha BONNIFIELD CHANDLER, pioneer settlers of Jefferson county, and was born September 23d, 1855 (sic. headstone DOB is Sept. 24, 1855). He grew to manhood here and was married to Rose KINNEY (sic. Rosa KINNEY) in 1874. One child was born of the union, now Mrs. Harlan GREEN of Spirit Lake. Mrs. CHANDLER died March 28th, 1877 (sic. June 22, 1877 on her headstone inscription). April 2d, 1878, Mr. CHANDLER was married to Miss Willah COCHRAN. There was one child by this marriage, George Gregg, who survives the father. Other members of the CHANDLER family still living are Mrs. O. T. HOOPES of this city, Mrs. HOBBIE of Quincy, Ill., and C. S. CHANDLER of Stillwater, Okla. Mr. CHANDLER was in excellent health until about two weeks before his death, when he was attacked with neuralgia of the heart, from which he died. He was an active and industrious man, of undoubted honesty and integrity and there are many friends throughout the county who will sincerely mourn his death and sympathize with the stricken wife and children.
