Dorothy M. BLACK, 88, of Washington, Iowa, died following a short illness Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Washington County Hospitals.
A celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Interment will take place at Valley Cemetery in rural Washington, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 4-6 p.m.

Mrs. BLACK was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Havre, the daughter of Howare and Mable HOTLE BAKER. She married Omar L. BLACK Aug. 3, 1941, in Memphis, Mo. He died in 2000.
Mrs. BLACK attended country schools in Washington County. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business Washington Transfer.
She volunteered at area schools for many years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a member of a bowling league for several years.
Mrs. BLACK enjoyed spending time with family, quilting, sewing, crocheting, camping, attending the Iowa State Fair, gardening, going for walks and watching birds.
Survivors include seven children: Janet REES of Columbus Junction, Sandra AGGSON and husband Danny of Wellman, Connie BAKER and husband Joe of Harper, Carmen BLACK of Washington, Iowa, Karen BLAKLEY and husband Mike of Libertyville, Robert BLACK and wife Melody of Wellman and Marsha DRAYFAHL and husband Ron of Ainsworth; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha BROWN of Mount Pleasant.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Daryl BLACK and infant Allen BLACK; one grandson; and five siblings, Lucille ROSS, Lawrence "Bud" BAKER, Helen BROWN, Clark "Spark" BAKER and Mary SCHOOLEY.
