Monday, November 22, 1982Gladys A. STEVER, 77, dies
Gladys A. STEVER, 77, of Newton, a former Fairfield resident, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines following surgery.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Cancer Fund.
Mrs. STEVER was born March 9, 1905 in Fairfield, the daughter of Perry and Gertrude McDONALD BATES. She was reared and educated in Fairfield, moving to Newton in 1950. She married O. A. (Sonny) STEVER, who died Jan. 18, 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue BEASON of Ankeny; two grandchildren, and a brother, Maurice BATES of Hot Spring Village, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Mrs. STEVER was a member of the Methodist church. She was employed by Iowa Electric Company in Fairfield for many years and later by Newton Manufacturing Company.
