Amy WILLIAMSON MEDINA
Amy WILLIAMSON MEDINA, 81, of Hollywood, Fla., died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Aventura Hospital in Aventura, Fla.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Open visitation will begin at noon Friday at Raymond Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral Saturday at the church. Memorials have been established to First Christian Church in Fairfield, First Christian Church of Hollywood, and the Jefferson County Foundation Scholarship Fund in Fairfield.
Mrs. MEDINA was born July 20, 1915, in Union Mills, the daughter of the Rev. Samuel P. and Helen BRAMMER WILLIAMSON. The family moved to Fairfield in 1929. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1933 and attended Parsons College. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and her master's degree in social work from Columbia University in New York. She married Leland James MEDINA Feb. 28, 1948, in New York. He died Feb. 20, 1984. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and served as a Red Cross employee at stateside military bases. She had lived in Highland Park, Ill., and Hollywood. She was involved in the leadership of Girl Scouts in the Chicago area and in Broward County, Florida. She also was involved in the Meals-On-Wheels Program in Hollywood.
Survivors include her brother S.R. "Bob" WILLIAMSON of Fairfield, three nieces and one nephew. In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Henry B. WILLIAMSON.
