Friday, January 7, 1983Clara S. NELSON dies at 92
Clara SMITH NELSON, 92, 402 W. Fillmore, died at 10:50 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been admitted earlier the same day.
Services have been tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Clara SMITH NELSON was born March 21, 1890, in Batavia. She was the daughter of Nathan and Lilly SCHOOLEY SMITH. She was reared and educated in the Abingdon Community and lived most of her life in Jefferson County.
She was married Feb. 12, 1908, to Joseph Ray NELSON. He died May 16, 1961.
Survivors include four sons and a daughter: Wallace, Beltsville, Md.; Morris, Sun City, Ariz.; Chester, Farson; Merle, Fairfield; and Martha NELSON, Fairfield.
Mrs. NELSON is also survived by nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Orville SMITH, Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
