WAS A JEFFERSON PIONEER.

A Tekamah, Neb. dispatch announces the death of Isaac GIBSON at that place the 22d inst. Mr. GIBSON was a Jefferson County pioneer, and resided for many years on what has later been known as the A. C. Noble farm in Black Hawk township. He was ninety-three years of age. He was one of the first settlers of Burt County, Neb., and the oldest Mason in that state. The dispatch says:

Judge GIBSON was born in Clark County, Indiana, December the 8th, 1812, and was married April 4th 1832 to Isabella WALKER of Washington County, Indiana. Mrs. GIBSON died July 31st, 1899, at the old home in Tekamah in her ninety-third year. To them were born eight children, four of whom are still living. The eldest, J. S. GIBSON, lives in Omaha; Editha E. SHAFER, wife of Edmund SHAFER, in Tekamah; Hiram V. B. GIBSON, in Los Angeles, George W. GIBSON, at Granite, Colo.

In 1851 Judge GIBSON moved with his family to Fairfield, Ia., where he resided until the year 1857, when he moved his family to Nebraska and arrived in Tekamah, June 2nd, 1857, and continued to reside there until the close of his life. Here he was engaged in both merchandising and farming for several years, but of later years devoted his entire time to farming. His farms adjoin the town and his home was in town. He served several years as justice of the peace and as county judge. The funeral was conducted by the Masonic lodge. In the past year Judge GIBSON was presented with the badge designating him as the oldest Mason in the state of Nebraska.
