Obituary. On Tuesday, Aug. 22d, at 5 p.m., Mrs. Eber OGDEN died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David ORR, near Veo. Mrs. OGDEN had been in poor health for some time, but was feeling better. Her son took her on Saturday to visit her daughter. On Sunday she complained of feeling badly and continued to grow worse. A doctor was called and all was done that could be. But Alas! All human aid failed, and He who does all things well, took her from this world of affliction to the world where there is no more sorrow nor pain nor death.
Mrs. OGDEN's maiden name was Mary J. VANCE. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel VANCE. She was born Feb 19th, 1845, in Mercer county, West Virginia. Her parents came to Iowa when she was but eight years old. She was raised by good christian parents and her life was that of a christian. In the home she heard prayer night and morning by these dear good parents, and in her own home night and morning with her husband, they offered prayer. But alas! that family circle is broken and an aged husband is left to mourn the loss of a kind companion. She leaves one son, Lester, at home, and one in Illinois, Milton, who is married, and her daughter, Cora, of near Veo. She has one sister in California, Mrs. Eugene CUMMINGS, one in Virginia and one brother in the West.
Her burial was at the Richwoods (sic - Upper Richwood) cemetery on Thursday at 2 p.m. The family have the sympathy of many who knew her.
