W. D. CLAPP DEAD

Word was received in this city last night of the death of William D. CLAPP which occurred yesterday at 12 o'clock at Glenwood. Mr. CLAPP was one of the pioneers of Jefferson County and was one of the best known men of this vicinity. (Co. F, 3rd Iowa Cav. Reg. in Civil War.) He spent the summer here with his daughter, Mrs. T. F. HIGLEY, going to Glenwood early in the winter.

Mrs. T. F. HIGLEY was called to Glenwood Monday to see her father, William CLAPP, who was sick. He had been poorly for some time and passed away Tuesday noon. He had been a resident of this county a long time and was highly respected by all. We had known him about forty years and during that time we never heard anyone speak a harmful word of him. He would have been 92 years old in April. The body was taken to Concord, Neb., and laid to rest beside his wife.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Wife was Elizabeth ALBRIGHT, who died in Kearney, Neb., April 5, 1893.
