"Thomas Adlam Whitacre died at his home west of Brighton Fri. July 24 aged 69 y. 11 m.
Born at Pennsdale, Lycoming Co., Penn. Aug 29 1833. His parents went to Logan County, Ohio in 1847, where they lived until the fall of 1852 when they came to Iowa and located on a farm near Brighton. Feb. 3, 1859 he married Isabella, dau. of the late Robert W. Griffith, who with their six children survives. Children: Samuel G.; Robert J.; Mary E.; Benj. F.; Edith E. and George C. Four brothers and two sisters also survive: D. E. Whitacre of Marshalltown; Joseph Whitacre of Albia; Calvin of Bishop, Calif.; Benjamin of Brighton, and Mrs. Marcy and Mrs. Vinton of Fairfield. Bur. Pleasant Plain."
