"Virgil A. Smith, 69, of Washington, died Tues. Oct. 10, 1967 at the Washington County Hospital. Jones Funeral Home in Washington. Burial in Friends Cemetery at Pleasant Plain. Born Feb. 8, 1898 at Rubio, son of Sylvester and Dorris (Dailey) Smith. He was reared at Richland and married to Grace Singleton. In 1964 he was married to Winona McDonald. Member Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge and worked as an engineer at American Pearl Company. Surviving are wife; 6 children: Josephine of Brighton; Clarence and Arnold of Washington; Donald of Des Moines; Frank and Mrs. Nellie Berry of Muscatine; one step-son, Clifford Tulgren of Arkansas; two brothers: Arnold of Canoga Park, Calif., and Floyd of Kirkwood, Kentucky; one sister, Mrs. Alice Moore of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren."
