On October 14, 1869, Ruth POPE was united in marriage to Richard MYERS. Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive and attended the funeral. Richard MYERS departed this life July 10, 1907, at the home near Abingdon. In September, 1908, his widow moved to Packwood making her home here until the spring of 1918. Since that time she spent the greater part of the time with her granddaughter, Mrs. Guy CRAWFORD, near Brookville, but was visiting at the home of her son, Emmett MYERS when stricken with her last illness, which was of short duration, although she was in poor health and a patient sufferer for many years. Death came at 6 o'clock on Thursday morning, July 28. She was the last of seven children, five sisters and one brother. Mrs. MYERS united with the Baptist church at Brookville in 1865. Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Packwood Saturday afternoon, July 30, by Rev. Polly, Christian pastor at Fairfield. The remains were taken to Abingdon for interment.
