Carl A. LOVE, 73, of rural Keosauqua, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Carl A. LOVE

Carl A. LOVE, 73, of Keosauqua, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Danny Carry officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with family present 5-7 p.m.

Gifts toward a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 24040 Jasmine Road, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. LOVE was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Green Castle, Mo., the son of Carl E. and Ada BISHOP LOVE. He married Sandra JONES. They divorced. He married Barbara HAVNER MADDIX March 27, 1976, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Mr. LOVE grew up in the Birmingham area. He worked in several factories, including many years at ACCO-Louden in Fairfield, where he supervised the construction and erection of cranes, Fairfield Glove Co. and Barker LTD. in Keosauqua. He also farmed in the Keosauqua area.

Mr. LOVE enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing, as well as being with his family.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Terri PREVETT and husband Kenneth of Stockport and Traci HIGDON and husband Eric of Mediapolis; one stepdaughter, Becky POHREN and husband Bob of Keosauqua; one son, Alan LOVE and wife Kathy of Libertyville; one stepson, Randy MADDIX and wife Susan of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Laverne LOVE of Washington; and three sisters, Carolyn BEGGS of Cantril, Marilyn KERR of Birmingham and Vicki ALLMAN of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John and Jerry LOVE and an infant; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
