"Emery (sic) Pickering, 77, a retired farmer, died Tues. at Veterans Hospital in Knoxville. Services Sat. at Behner Funeral Home. Veteran WW1. Military rites will be held at Friends Cemetery in Pleasant Plain. Born Sept 4 1891 in Fairfield, son of John and Angeline Elmore Pickering. Most of his life was spent in this community. Never married. Survived by two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Ash, Burlington; and Mrs. William Ruby, Brighton. One brother is deceased."
