Rita MILLER, 63, of Fruitland, formerly of Fairfield and Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the home of her daughter.

Arrangements are pending at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant.

Rita J. MILLER

Rita J. MILLER, 63, of Fruitland, formerly of Fairfield and Mount Pleasant, died from cancer Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at home.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jerry Van Hooser officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakland Mills Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon at the memorial chapel, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to her grandson Coedy SILVERS' education fund.

Mrs. MILLER was born Oct. 25, 1947, in Fairfield, the daughter of Paul and Donna Jean MYERS BOUGHNER.

Mrs. MILLER grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1966. She began a career as a judicial clerk for the state of Iowa at the Henry County Courthouse Aug. 20, 1984. In 2003, she moved to Muscatine, where she continued as a clerk for the Muscatine County courts until her retirement in February 2010.

Mrs. MILLER was a member of Mount Pleasant Moose Lodge No. 1003. She served on the executive board of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3019 in Burlington.

Mrs. MILLER enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandson. She was a Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan.

Survivors include her mother of Fairfield; one daughter, Nikki Christine MOORE and husband Larry of Fruitland; four grandchildren; and one brother, Samuel Earl BOUGHNER of What Cheer.

She was preceded in death by her father.
