DEATH CLAIMS J. T. RODGERS

Death came today to J. T. RODGERS, 88-year-old resident who had been seriously ill for the past 10 days. He passed away at 8:30 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl AUGUST, who resides east of Fairfield.

Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with Dr. L. L. Weis and Rev. Howard DeVore in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hoskins funeral home to the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

John Thomas RODGERS was born March 13, 1860, at Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of the late Samuel and Mary BLACK RODGERS. He moved to Center township in 1865, and came to Fairfield in January, 1916.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. RODGERS celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary September 3, 1948.

Besides his wife, Mr. RODGERS is survived by the following children: Clarence, Burdett, Mrs. Victor BATES, Mrs. Earl AUGUST, all of Fairfield; Homer, Birmingham; Elmer, Canton, Illinois; and Harry, of Shenandoah, Iowa.

He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, nine great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Mr. RODGERS was the last of a family of six.

Until his recent illness, Mr. and Mrs. RODGERS made their home at 610 S. Second street.
