Mr. and Mrs. Robert RIDER and Roberta (sic – Robert), Ruth RIDER and Mrs. May HANNA have returned from Dunlap where they attended the funeral services of Thomas D. RIDER, brother of Robert and Ruth.
Mr. RIDER died suddenly of a heart attack in Denver, Colo., Nov. 18, while he and Robert RIDER were on a business trip. Final rites were held in Dunlap last Friday and burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery there.
Thomas D. RIDER was born Aug. 14, 1900 in Jefferson county, near Fairfield, the oldest son of Harry W. and Kate G. RIDER. He was graduated from the Fairfield high school and attended what was then known as Des Moines university.
He was married to Viola PAUL of Dow City in 1924 and they both taught in Patterson and Arcadia for a number of years. He entered business in Dunlap and was prominent in the affairs of the community. He was a member of the Dunlap Methodist church, a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to Abu Bekr Shrine at Sioux City.
He is survived by his wife and a daughter, Carolyn, the brother and sister here and other relatives.
