MRS. MILLANE DIES AT HOME

Mrs. John MILLANE, 76, native of Germany and resident of Jefferson county for over 50 years, died at her farm home north of Fairfield at 1:30 a.m. today. She had been in failing health the past two and a half years and seriously ill since Monday.

Funeral services will be next Monday, Feb. 25, at the St. Mary’s Catholic church at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. H. M. Thoman in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Hoskins funeral home to the family home tomorrow morning where the Rosary will be recited Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Francis Catherine MILLANE was born Feb. 7, 1870, in Germany (sic – probably German-controlled Poland) and came to the United States when she was 16 years old. She married John MILLANE (sic - Sr.) Nov. 20, 1894, at St. Mary’s church, Polishville, Iowa. She had been a resident in Black Hawk Township, Jefferson county for 51 years. She is the last of a family of nine children.

Mrs. MILLANE is survived by the following children: Mrs. A. J. ARNDT and John F. MILLANE, Fairfield; Sister Mary Madonna and Sister Mary Carmelita, Sisters of St. Francis, Nevada, Missouri; Theresa MILLANE, New Orleans, La.; James MILLANE, Venice, California; Anna and W. C., both at home. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
