MRS. MAXWELL, AUTO VICTIM, DIED SUNDAY

Worst Injured of Load of Rebekahs Succumbs to Internal Injuries at 4:35 p.m.

The only fatality resulting from the terrible auto accident Friday night is the death of Mrs. Ray MAXWELL which occurred yesterday afternoon at 4:35 p.m. at the Jefferson County hospital. Mrs. MAXWELL was being driven to Linby to attend the Rebekah installation exercises.

Mary Ellen MAXWELL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel SPENCER, was born July 30th, 1875, at Salina, Ia. She was forty-five years, eleven months and eighteen days old at the time of her demise.

On September 2, 1895 she united in marriage with Ray MAXWELL. She came to Fairfield a bride and has lived here the rest of her life. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive. The are (sic), Charles H., Raymond C., and Ralph W., all at home. One little girl, Mildred Marie, died when she was a month old. She is also survived by her mother and two brothers, John SPENCER of Salina and Bert SPENCER of Smithfield, O.

Mrs. MAXWELL was a loyal lodge member of Rebekah lodge No. 96, Pythian Sisters and W. R. C. She was always ready to do her part and was loved by all who knew her. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her dear ones.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at five o’clock from the Methodist church in charge of Dr. W. R. Keesey of Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery

All the other occupants of the wrecked car have been removed from the hospital to their homes and are improving nicely.
