W. K. MAASDAM DIES SUDDENLY

William K. MAASDAM, long-time Fairfield resident, was found dead in the bathroom at his apartment early this morning. Coroner Jack Raymond, who said there will be no inquest, said he had been dead since about 5 p.m. last night.

He apparently started to shave shortly after he quit work at 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon and died of a heart attack.

When he failed to report for his work at the Louden Machinery company at 7 a.m. today, his foreman, Floyd Best, went to MAASDAM’s apartment at 204 W. Burlington street to see why he wasn’t at work. He found MAASDAM’s body on the bathroom floor.

Officers and the coroner were called but Raymond said there will be no inquest.

The body is at the Hoskins funeral home where last rites are pending.

William K. MAASDAM, 62, was born March 25, 1890, at Palla, Ia., the son of the late Jacob G. and Catherine WAGAMAN MAASDAM. He came to Fairfield with his parents when a small child and spent most of his life in this community.

He was united in marriage on March 25, 1915, to Nellie OGDEN, who preceded her husband in death on May 12, 1948. The couple was married in Fairfield.

Survivors include two daughters. They are Mrs. Kathryn SLATKOSKI, Colfax, Ia., and Mrs. Kathleen STOUT, Muskogee, Okla. He is also survived by one grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Marie KANN and Elizabeth MAASDAM, both of Fairfield; and a brother, Fred MAASDAM, Ottumwa, and a niece.
