HISEL, Mrs. Louis--Marinday Caroline KESTER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph KESTER, was born October 30, 1850. The first few years of her life were spent in Virginia, the family later moving to Ohio, and at last to Iowa, establishing their home in Salem.

February 14, 1878, she was united in marriage to Louis HISEL, the ceremony being performed at the home of a sister, Mrs. M. S. HAND, near Eldon, Iowa. They lived on a farm in Jefferson county during the first twenty-five years of their married life, moving March 3, 1903, to Fairfield, where they have since resided at 700 West Washington street.

Mrs. HISEL was never in perfect health, but had been unusually well the past month and her recent sickness came as a shock to relatives and friends. On December 21, 1922, she became suddenly ill and died January 13, 1923. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. E. C. HEAP, of Monrovia, Calif., and Mrs. C. V. POOL, of Ottumwa, Iowa; one son, Clifford E. HISEL of this city, and three grandchildren. Another son preceded her in death fifteen years ago. She also leaves two half brothers, one who resides in Kansas and another in California.

Her gravestone only indicates years of birth and death: 1851 – 1923, and gives her name as Marinda Caroline KESTER; it makes no mention of HISEL.
