MRS. L. HISEL DIED YESTERDAY

Passed Away At Her Home After Illness of Only Ten Days

Mrs. Louis HISEL passed away at 10:40 oclock (sic) yesterday morning at her home at 700 West Washington street. Mrs. HISEL had been sick only ten days, and her condition did not become serious until two days before her death.

Mrs. HISEL had made Fairfield her home for many years, and has many friends here. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. C. V. POOL of Ottumwa and Mrs. E. C. HEAP of Monrovia, California, and one son, Clifford E. HISEL of Fairfield. Another son preceded her in death fifteen years ago. She also leaves two half brothers, one who resides in Kansas, and another in California.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 oclock (sic) at the residence.

Note: Marinda’s maiden name was KESTER. In the WPA report for Jefferson County, her year of birth is noted as 1850; local genealogists indicate she was born in 1851. Her gravestone only indicates years of birth and death: 1851 – 1923, and gives her hame as Marinda Caroline KESTER; it makes no mention of HISEL. She and husband Louis are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot 2nd.170.
