DEATH TAKES MRS. HERMAN

Mrs. Ed HERMAN (sic – Mrs. William Edgar HERMAN), 400 E. Kirkwood St., died this morning at Jefferson county hospital. She had been ill since last December and a patient at the hospital for more than a month.

Mrs. HERMAN, 73, was a lifelong resident of Fairfield.

She was born December 10, 1877 in Fairfield, the daughter of John W. and Martha Jane FRUSH QUILLEN. She married W. Edgar HERMAN May 18, 1907.

Mrs. HERMAN was active in many Fairfield organizations. She was a member of the First Methodist church and belonged to Rebekah Lodge No. 383 and the Order of Eastern Star. She also devoted many hours to Red Cross sewing projects during World War II and was a nurses aide at the local hospital for four years.

She is survived by her husband and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Raymond JOHNSON, Gowanda, N .Y. One grandson and four nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. HERMAN was the last member of her family of five children.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home in charge of Dr. L. L. Weis. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Part of the services will be conducted by the Rebekah lodge.
