Charles GOSSICK, City Water Board Member, Succumbs

Charles O. GOSSICK, member of the Fairfield water board and a former member of the city council, passed away about 6:45 a.m. Sunday at his home, 412 North C street.

He had been in poor health since undergoing major surgery last fall, but his health had seemed to improve recently and his death was sudden and unexpected.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Christian church with Dr. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The Masons will have charge of the services at the grave.

The body will be taken from the Hoskins funeral home to the church at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Charles O. GOSSICK, 53, was born June 10, 1902, in Fairfield, the son of John and Eva TEETER GOSSICK. He has been a life-time resident of this community, and passed away in the same house in which he was born. He was educated in the Fairfield schools, and has been assistant superintendent at the Iowa Malleable Iron company for several years.

He was united in marriage Nov. 12, 1922, to Edith M. WILSON who survives. The wedding took place at Ottumwa.

GOSSICK served the city as a member of the city council for several years, and was then appointed a member of the water board, a post he held at the time of his death. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Christian church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: John, Pontiac, Mich.; and Don, Monmouth, Ill. He is survived by three grandchildren and his mother, Mrs. Eva JOHNSON, Fairfield, and a brother, Paul, Pontiac, Mich.
