Ralph GILMER, Retired Mail Carrier, Dies

Ralph W. GILMER, 74, retired Fairfield mail carrier, died suddenly Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at his home at 1001 E. Burlington street. Death was caused by a heart attack.

Last rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home. The Rev. Donald A. Eagle will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

GILMER was a lifetime resident of Fairfield. He was employed at the local post office for 42 years prior to his retirement. He also worked for nine years at the Dexter company.

GILMER was born in Fairfield May 7, 1885, the son of Frank and Susan GILMER. He was married to Mary Ethel TIERNEY Sept. 3, 1908. He was a member of the Fairfield Elks Lodge No. 1192 and a past exalted ruler of that organization.

GILMER is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Doris GRIFFITH, Oskaloosa. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Robert GILMER, Fairfield; James GILMER, Prairie Village, Kan.; Ruth GILMER and Anna GILMER, both of Fairfield.
