November, 1956Minister, Known Here, Dies After Traffic Mishap
The Rev. E. S. CARLON, husband of the former Effie JOHNSON of Jefferson county, died at 4 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth hospital at Appleton, Wis., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Monday.
The Rev. and Mrs. CARLON were enroute to Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., when their car skidded on icy pavement into the path of another car. The Rev. CARLON was thrown from the car and suffered head injuries and never regained consciousness. Mrs. CARLON suffered bruises and shock.
The CARLONs lived in Marshalltown where he was pastor of Trinity Lutheran church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John of Davenport, a daughter Mrs. Les WOLKEN, Marshalltown, and two grandchildren.
The CARLONs were frequent visitors here in the homes of Mrs. CARLON’s sisters, Mrs. L. Ben DAVIS and Mrs. Ed QUICK, and her brother, Ralph JOHNSON, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Edith JOHNSON.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
