Doris N. COLLINS HYDE

Doris N. COLLINS HYDE, 58, of Suwanee, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 in Suwanee after a 13-year battle with breast cancer.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, with the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials to National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 4875 Settles Point Road, Suwanee, GA 30024.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is assisting the family.

Mrs. HYDE was born Feb. 20, 1952, in Keosauqua, the daughter of Donald and Della Mellita McCRACKEN COLLINS.

Mrs. HYDE grew up in the Douds community and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1970. She received an associate's degree in computer information from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa in 1972. She worked for life insurance companies in Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Indiana and Georgia. As director of New Business Systems, Mrs. HYDE was on the leading edge of new product development and implementation.

Her hobbies included sewing, reading and traveling by car.

Survivors include her husband of more than 20 years, Stephen J. PEER; one son, Robert T. HYDE and wife Amanda of Plainfield, N.J.; and four sisters, Dayle EDEN of Bonaparte and Dana SHEPARD, Dona HALTERMAN and Darla GEISE, all of Waukee.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert HYDE; her parents; and one sister, Dee COLLINS.
