Keith C. HOOTMAN, 89, of Riverside, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In accordance with Mr. HOOTMAN's wishes, cremation was facilitated by Family Care Services Life Transition and Cremation Center in Muscatine.
Arrangements are in the care of Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside. Online condolences may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. HOOTMAN was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Van Buren County, the son of Clem and Ina DILLE HOOTMAN. He married Doris HANEY May 4, 1942, in Mexico, Mo. She preceded him in death. He later married Jean NICHOLS in January 1982 in Kahoka, Mo.
Mr. HOOTMAN was a lifelong farmer in Van Buren County. He loved raising cattle, especially Tennessee Walking horses and Santa Gertrudis cattle.
Survivors include one son, Kendall HOOTMAN and wife Nedra of Riverside; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elna GREENFIELD of Birmingham, Eileen LOSEY of Mount Pleasant, Eva JOHNSTON of Fairfield and Shirrel DOWD of Mount Pleasant; and special friend, Ruby Williams of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one son, Jerry; six brothers, Verle in infancy, Harold, Dean, Donovan, Rex and Ray; and one sister, Reva.
