Pg. 8 Col. 2Walter STANFORD Dies Suddenly
Walter Lloyd STANFORD (a/k/a Lloyd Walter STANFORD in some family lineages), 72, died suddenly at his home, 204 E. Madison, today at 2:30 a.m. STANFORD spent most of his life in Jefferson county, having engaged in farming and also worked for the Rock Island railroad.
He was born in Jefferson county, Dec. 17, 1880, the son of John Fey (sic. Feigh) and Clara RENO STANFORD, and married Maude DeGOOD Sept. 25, 1906 at Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Brookville Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Fred ADAM, Strawn Ill, Mrs. Ernest VAN PATTEN, Wilmington, Ill., and Mrs. Herman REIGER, Forrest, Ill.; three sons, Lee (sic. Merle Leland) of Buffalo, Ia., Rex of Rock Island, Ill., and Glenn of Fairfield; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Walter MYERS and Mrs. Gail CAVINESS, Fairfield, and Mrs. Carl BISHOP of Redlands, Calif., and one brother, Carl STANFORD of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by a son, who died in infancy, one grandchild, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Campbell funeral chapel at Batavia with the Rev. Paul Erb of Batavia in charge. Burial wil be in Memorial Lawn cemetery at Fairfield. The body is at the Campbell funeral home at Batavia.
