Contributor note: The original birth record on file at the Jefferson county Recorder's office was entered as "female DeGood". On August 19th, 1953 the entry was clarified by deputy clerk V.M. JOHNSTON to be "Mary Maude DeGood". In consultation with a DeGood family descendant, Sandy KELLY, it is likely that this name change was prompted by the death of Walter Lloyd Stanford the previous month and to collect survivors benefits the birth name needed clarification.
