"Barrett C. Johnson, 85, who lived s.e. of Veo, died Tues. Jan 1 at Washington Co. Hospital. Stroke. Bur. Evergreen. Born Apr 28 1866 in Penn Twp., Jefferson Co., son of Barkley and Jane Goodenow Johnson; married Mar 28 1888 at Fairfield to Ida Ginther. They went to housekeeping in Neb., where they lived a few years, later moving to Spirit Lake. They had lived in their present home 49 years. Member Friends Church. Surviving are wife and children: Sylman Johnson, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Carrell Johnson, Fairfield; Mrs. Mamie Simmons, Floris; Mrs. Mable Schafer, Eldon; Mrs. Merl Wheatley, Fairfield; Mrs. Velma Horn, Pleasant Plain, and Gilbert Johnson, Van Meter, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Ingham, Chicago, and 2 bros: David of Earlham, Iowa, and Meader of Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter."
