MRS. J. A. WRAY DIES EARLY TODAY IN CITY

Well-known Fairfield Woman Summoned at 78 Years of Age

Mrs. Elizabeth WRAY, wife of J. A. WRAY of Fairfield, died at 3:30 o’clock this morning at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. WRAY were married, Jan. 28, 1879, in Alexis, Ill., and had she lived until January of next year, they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. WRAY was one of seven children and came to Iowa in a covered wagon. She was a charter member of the Rebekah Locge No. 386, and a member of the First Christian church in this city. She had been a resident of Fairfield for 50 years.

On April 7, 1933 she broke her hip, and recovered after treatment at the State University of Iowa hospital.

Mrs. WRAY is survived by her husband, and the following children, Mrs. Jessie HISEL, Mrs. X. C. NADY, and Fred WRAY, all of Fairfield, and Mrs. Austin B. MARRAY, of San Francisco, Calif.

The following brother and sisters survive, George ALLEN, of North Henderson, Ill.; Mrs. Mary DUNN of Dexter, Ia.; Mrs. J. J. MARFORD of Dexter, Ia.; and Mrs. Harry WILLIAMS, of Cottonwood, S. D. She also leaves five grandchildren.

Note: Her husband James Albert ‘Chas.’ died in 1937. They are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot SDiv.4-009
