Services for prominent Fairfield club-woman on Saturday afternoon
Mrs. Herman W. MOLL, prominent Fairfield club woman, died suddenly at 9:45 o’clock this morning at the Jefferson county hospital. Mrs. MOLL had been in poor health for the past six weeks, and had consulted with specialists at the State University hospital in Iowa City last week for examination.
Upon returning to Fairfield, she entered the Jefferson county hospital, and upon her request, an operation was performed early this morning for further examination. Thirty minutes after the completion of the operation it was stated today, Mrs. MOLL died of heart collapse.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the First Methodist church, in charge of Rev. M. A. Gable. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call at the Murray Funeral Home anytime today or tomorrow.
Mrs. Jessie POTTER MOLL was born September 26, 1886 (sic – 1885 on her gravestone), in Onawa, Ia. the daughter of Joshua and Sarah POTTER. With her family, she moved to Anthon, Ia. where she graduated from high school. She took secretarial work at Grand Rapids, Mich., and upon her graduation obtained a position in that city. She made her home there with an aunt.
For several years she was employed as a secretary with a Colorado mining company. On June 17, 1917, she was married to Herman W. MOLL in Kansas City, Mo. and they moved to Stockport to make their home.
The MOLLs moved to Fairfield in 1919, and have made their home for a number of years at 403 South D street. The MOLL garden, of which Mrs. MOLL was so proud, is a showplace for the neighborhood and for the many garden-lovers of Fairfield.
