DEATH SUMMONS MRS. FAULKNER
Local Woman Died After Being Taken to Hospital Saturday

Vera Ferne FAULKNER, wife of A. E. FAULKNER, 302 West Washington street, died this morning at the Jefferson County Hospital at 7:30 o'clock. She was taken ill at her home and was removed to the hospital Saturday evening. The body was taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home.

Mrs. FAULKNER was the daughter of Edwin J. and Anna GANTZ HEWITT. She was born, February 17, 1887. Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Earl who resides north of Fairfield, and the following uncles and aunts: Miss Mae GANTZ, Ellie GANTZ, Mrs. S. A. COPELAND and John GANTZ, all of near fairfield, Mrs. S. K. DAVIS of Libertyville, W. N. HEWITT of Beaver City, Neb., and a niece Lucille HEWITT.

Mrs. FAULKNER was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Methodist church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith. The body will be removed to the church at 1:00 o'clock. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Philathea Class to Gather for Funeral

Members of the Philathea Class of the First Methodist church will meet at the church at 1:45 o'clock, Thursday afternoon. They plan to attend in a body at the funeral services for Mrs. A. E. FAULKNER, a member of the class, who died Tuesday. The funeral is to be at 2:00 o'clock.

IMPRESSIVE RITES FOR MRS. FAULKNER

Impressive funeral services were held for Mrs. Fern HEWITT FAULKNER, wife of Eugene FAULKNER, on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock (sic), at the First Methodist church, in charge of Rev. U. S. Smith.

Mrs. C. M. Graham sang two numbers, “The City Four Square” and “Crossing the Bar.” Mrs. E. G. Linder presided at the organ. Rev. Gilbert Voorhies offered prayer. Dr. Smith paid a beautiful tribute to the life of Mrs. FAULKNER in his sermon, which was from the text, “She Hath Done What She Could.”

Pall bearers were Supt. W. G. Pence, Prof. E. Hobart Collins, Frank Pierson, Ralph Larson, and Frank McClain, all members of the Baracca class, of which Mr. FAULKNER is leader. services at the grave were in charge of Fairfield Chapter No. 39, Order of Eastern Star. The Philathea Bible Class and the D. A. R. Chapter were also represented with delegations. Honorary attendants while the body lay in state were representatives of the organizations of which Mrs. FAULKNER was a member.

Mrs. William Niebert was hostess at one oclock luncheon this noon given at her home on South Court street to members of the Eastern Star. Following luncheon served to thirty friends, a memorial service was held in memory of Mrs. Eugene FAULKNER whose death occurred in the early part of this month.

Eugene FAULKNER died sometime between April, 1967, and August, 1969, possibly in Appanoose Co., IA, from an article in the "Weekly Tribune" of Moulton, IA, contesting his estate; his burial place is unknown at the time of this posting.
