L. S. BRADSHAW DIES TODAY AT HOME HERE
Funeral services for prominent local resident Monday, 10 a.m.

Leland S. BRADSHAW, 64, well known Fairfield resident, passed away at 7 p.m. last evening at his home, 908 South Main street. Mr. BRADSHAW had been in poor health for several years.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday at 10 a.m., in charge of Rev. Fr. H. Thoman. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Rosary Society will meet at Hoskins Funeral Home Sunday at 8 p.m. to say Rosary. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon.

Leland Stanford BRADSHAW, son of Dr. and Mrs. A. C. D. BRADSHAW, was born September 29, 1876, in Salina. He was educated in the public schools of Fairfield, graduating from high school in 1896. He continued his education at Parsons College, where he was a member of Parsons’ first football team. He later entered Drake University at Des Moines, where he graduated in the School of Pharmacy.

Upon completing his schooling, he entered the drug store of Bradshaw and Thoma, where he was associated for several years. Later he entered the drug business under his own name, and continued thus for many years.

Always active in the business and community interests of Fairfield, he served as a member of the city Council for seven years. He was connected with the Bradshaw Furniture Co. for ten years, and prior to that was associated with Bradshaw wholesale and retail paints.

On Nov. 16, 1909, he was joined in marriage to Miss Edna Mary ROTH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John ROTH. To them were born two daughters, Phyllis, now of Sioux city, and Barbara, at home.

Mr. BRADSHAW was preceeded (sic) in death by his father, Dr. A. C. D. BRADSHAW, his mother, Mary BRADSHAW, his brother, Claudius, sister Ollie.

In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his brother, J. C. BRADSHAW of Fairfield, a sister, Mrs. Ernest JERICHO of Moline, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. C. C. TALLMAN of Fresno, Calif.

... --Mr. and Mrs. Ernest JERICHO have been visiting in the J. C. BRADSHAW home, 113 Iowa Avenue since Saturday. Mrs. JERICHO attended the funeral of her brother, L. S. BRADSHAW.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.001. Wife Edna died in 1972 and is buried with him. His gravestone shows an incorrect birth year of 1877 - he was born in 1876 as noted above. According to his death certificate, he was 63 years, 10 months and 10 days old when he died.
