FUNERAL RITES FOR F. P. BALL
Well-known Fairfield Man Laid to Rest in Evergreen Cemetery

Funeral services for the late Frank P. BALL were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Methodist church, conducted by Dr. U. S. Smith, pastor. Prior to 2:00 p.m., the body lay in state at the church, banked by very beautiful flowers.

The service was opened by an organ voluntary by Mrs. F. H. Pierson, and appropriate hymns were sung as a duet by Mrs. W. L. VanNostrand and Paul Coleson.

Dr. Smith based his remarks upon Proverbs 16:31, “The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of riteousness.” He commented upon the universal desire to remain youthful but noted that memory, experience and wisdom come only for those who have passed through life’s experiences. “These are the things that come with whitened hair. The honor of the hoary head comes only when the life has been lived in the way of riteousness. The ripened years came as a crown of glory to ‘Father BALL,’” Dr. Smith said.

A large number of friends and associates had gathered at the church, of which he had been a faithful member and attendant. Burial was made in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery. L. E. Clinkinbeard, R. H. Spence, J. M. Horn, A. L. Coop, Walter Harris and Dean Taylor acted as pallbearers.

Mr. BALL is survived by his wife Ann I. BALL, and the following children: George M. BALL of Iowa City; Mrs. Clarance BOWER of Salem; Mrs. Carl JAY and Miss Noble BALL, both of Fairfield.
